| PartyPoker.com I finally had the chance to play at Party Poker today for the first time. I must say that I was/am quite impressed with the software and graphics. The lobby is laid out in a very easy-to-navigate way, and has a lot of options and preferences that you may tweak to your liking. The actual tables use nice 3D-characters around the table for the players which gives playing a more realistic feel. Unfortunately you cannot create your own character (which may be a good thing, as this is poker and not The Sims). One other thing I will mention regarding the software is that PartyPoker has the best SOUND I've seen at a poker site! Many people may not notice the sound, but Party Poker has very pleasing sounds (chips for bets and calls, a nice ding when it's your turn, etc.) Party Poker also has tournaments of course, and also Sit N Go's like Poker Stars. Their tournaments are quite good, the only downwide possibly being the amount of tournaments they hold. I did not manage to find any incentive programs availiable for Party Poker save for the bonus cash they sometimes give out for cash deposits. This is quite surprising as most other poker sites have such incentives (FPP for Poker Stars, Player Points for Poker World, etc.) The biggest downside to Party Poker is that the site is mostly LIMIT only! I found this out after I signed up, and I believe you can only play NL at $25+ tables! The limit tables begin at $0.50/$1.00. The level at Party Poker is notorious for having the worst poker players on the Internet. This of course is a good thing for you! When I played, I did notice that the level was below the average, but unfortunately for me, I am not a limit player, and thus this site is pretty much useless to me unless I play in the SnG's or tourneys (which are NL). Overall, PartyPoker is a very good site, with unskilled players and a great interface. The main downside is that it is mainly LIMIT-only. |
