This calculation is based on dividing amount earned by the
number of click throughs.
Merchant - A merchant is a company that has products,
services or technologies to sell. A merchant is a company
that you (as an affiliate) partner with in order to enable your
websites capabilities to sell things online. Merchants enable
you to sell things online like: products, services or
technology. You (as an affiliate) place links (HTML) on your
site to promote the merchant's products or services. In
exchange, you receive a commission for all the valid
transactions that you have referred. This can take place on a
pay per click, pay per lead, pay per sale or other basis.
Minimum - Minimum means the minimum you need to make
before the merchant or affiliate program will send you a
check. VIP Profits minimum threshold is $50 a month before
a check is cut.
Partner - another term that can be used and means the same
as affiliate.
Pay Per Click - These programs all offer you (as an affiliate)
the opportunity to earn commissions without the visitors you
refer needing to make a purchase from the merchant of any
type. All they have to do is click on the link on your page
that takes them to the merchants site. At that point they may
(or may not) buy something or signup for something. If you
are the merchant then you are paying your affiliate for the
targeted traffic they provide to your site.
Pay Per Impression - These programs all offer you (as an
affiliate) the opportunity to earn commissions without the
visitors you refer needing to make a purchase from the
merchant of any type or even click on their banners. All they
have to do is see the banner on your page that takes them to
the merchants site. At that point they may (or may not) click
on it and then go on to buy something or signup for
something. If you are the merchant then you are paying your
affiliate for the targeted viewers they provide. This is more
like traditional advertising where the viewer simply sees and
ad on television of hears it on the radio. NOTE: Same as
Pay Per View.
Programs - see 'merchant'
Residual - Residual income means that once you (as an
affiliate) have referred an initial sale (by someone clicking
on a link and then going on to buy something) you will
receive a commission. Plus, you will then receive additional
commissions (monthly, quarterly, yearly or etc.) as long as
the visitor you referred remains a customer of the merchants
service. If you are a merchant you can offer this residual
income to your affiliates to ensure that they remain loyal
and recommend you over the other merchants vying for their
loyalty.
Two Tier - Two Tier programs pay commissions at least
two-levels deep. This means that if you (as an affiliate) refer
new affiliates (to sell the merchants products or services),
then you receive a portion of the new affiliates sales. This is
in addition to whatever commissions are made on the sales
that are made by the viewers that come to your site. In other
words, a two tier program is the merchants way of
encouraging you to promote their affiliate program to other
webmasters. When you do you get a commission
(percentage) based on what they make. If you are a
merchant, then offering a two tier program is one of the best
ways to encourage your affiliates to get other webmasters to
start promoting your products and services. This will cause
your affiliate program to expand and reach more and more
webmasters, which in turn makes you more money. Definitely
do not over look this feature...
Other Useful Marketing Terms:
"Above The Fold" means the location of Customer's Banner
on a web page, visible to visitors without the need to scroll
the browser window.
"Banner" means the text and graphics of the Customer's
Creative visible to the visitor.
"Campaign" means the details of a Customer's Creative,
Banner, Start/Flight/Post Date, End Date and Impressions
purchased as outlined in the Insertion Order.
"Click Through" means the number of times Customer's
Banner has been clicked on according to Website Statistics.
"Creative" means the files and/or code supplied by Customer
to create Customer's Banner.
"Flight Date" means the date on which Customer's
Campaign begins.
"Impression" means the number of times a Customer's
Banner has been loaded into a visitors browser according to
Website Statistics.
"Insertion Order" means the document containing the details
of a Customer's Campaign.
"Post Date" is another term for the date on which Customer's
Campaign begins.
"Services" means the advertising services to be provided by
a website for a Customer under an Agreement, as more fully
described in an Insertion Order.
"Signups" There are two types of signup's, active and
inactive. Active is when a player signs up and places a
deposit and a player is considered inactive till they take
some action placing deposit.
"Start Date" is yet another term for the date on which
Customer's Campaign begins.
"Statistics" means the Impression and Click Through data as
provided by a website.
Web Properties; This is a website URL owned by an affiliate
or merchant.
XML; Extension Markup Language is a language used to
read raw data.
